Lieutenant Colonel Tamin bin Tuah was born on 20 March 1970 and began to serve with the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) on 23 October 1990 when he enlisted into the 82nd recruit intake of RBAF.
After completion of the Officer Cadet Course in Singapore in the year 1999, Lieutenant Colonel Tamin was commissioned as a Lieutenant for RBAF and held the post as a Platoon Commander for 'B' Company 1Bn, Royal Brunei Land Force (RBLF). From the year 2000 until 2003, Lieutenant Colonel Tamin has held various appointments at the Bolkiah Workshop of Land Engineering RBLF (then known as Land Engineering Support Service RBAF). Among the appointments were OIC Mechanical, OIC Production and 2IC of Bolkiah Workshop.
From 2003 to 2006, Lieutenant Colonel Tamin held the post of SO3 and SO2 of Land Engineering RBLF. In August 2006, he was appointed as the Officer Commanding (OC) of Bolkiah Workshop Land Engineering until August 2010, after which in August 2011 he returned to the post of SO2 Land Engineering RBLF. From January 2012 until present, Lieutenant Colonel Tamin has been appointed as the Commanding Officer of Land Engineering RBLF and is the 5th Commanding Officer.
Throughout his service, Lieutenant Colonel Tamin had the opportunity of attending various courses and studies both locally and abroad. Among the courses and studies were, National Diploma in Micro Electronic and Radar Communication from South Devon College, UK in 1995, Engineering Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Bath University, UK in 1998, Officer Cadet Course in Singapore in 1999, REME Platoon Commander Course in the UK in 2000, Junior Staff Course in Brunei in 2005, Advance Course Staff College in the UK in 2011, NEBOSH International General Certificate in Brunei and most recently he has attended the 11th Executive Development Programme (EDP) in Public Policy and Management for senior government officials held in Brunei in 2014.
Lieutenant Colonel Tamin has been decorated with various medals such as Pingat Indah Kerja Baik (PIKB) in 2010, Pingat Kerja Lama dan Perangai Baik (PKLPB) in 2013 and Darjah Seri Paduka Mahkota Brunei Yang Amat Mulia ,Darjah Ketiga in 2014.
He is married to a teacher Masni binti Gelawat and is blessed with three children.
