Colonel Haji Damit bin Haji Bakar is the current Deputy Commander of the Royal Brunei Land Force. He joined the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) in June 1992 as Officer Cadet. For the past 26 years of service, he has held several appointments at the Royal Brunei Land Forces (RBLF) and the RBAF Training Institute (RBAF TI) which includes as the Officer Commanding Recruit Company RBAF TI, Officer Commanding First Battalion RBLF and Commanding Officer First Battalion RBLF in December 2010.
His staff tour includes as Staff Officer Grade 2 at the RBLF Headquarters in September 2008, Staff Officer Grade 1 at the Directorate of Intelligence, and appointed as Director of Intelligence, Ministry of Defence on 23 September 2016. On 19 March 2018, he was appointed to his current appointment as the Deputy Commander of the Royal Brunei Land Force.
To furnish himself with suitable military knowledge and skills, Colonel Haji Damit has also attended various courses locally and overseas such as Head of Platoon Course in Malaysia, Grade II Staff and Tactics course in New Zealand, Command and Staff Course in Singapore, Advanced Security Co-operation (ASC) Course In Hawaii, United States and National Defence College Course at the National Defence Studies Institute of Thailand.
In recognition for his service and with the consents of His Majesty The Sultan And Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Colonel Haji Damit has been conferred with the Meritorious Service Medal (P.J.K) on 22 January 2007 as well as the Long Service and Good Conduct Medal (P.K.L dan P.B) on 15 February 2013.
Colonel Haji Damit is happily married to Nor Aziah bte Haji Mohd Ismail and blessed with four daughters and one son. He is an avid runner and cyclist as well as enjoying golf.
