REGIMENTAL AID POST EXERCISE (EX RAP) CONCLUDES

BOLKIAH GARRISON, Tuesday 06 August 2019 – The Medical and Health Services Unit of Combat Service Support, Royal Brunei Land Force (CSS RBLF) conducted a Regimental Aid Post Exercise (EX RAP) from 05 August 2019 until 06 August 2019.

Involving 20 senior and junior medical assistants as participants, the exercise kicked off with a Table Top Exercise and refresher on mass casualty triaging procedures. One of the highlights of the exercise was the introduction of SALT as a mass casualty triaging system, which is utilised at the national level of medical emergency response. SALT is a four-step procedure for responders to manage mass casualty and stands for "Sort, Assess, Lifesaving interventions, Treatment and/or Transport".

On the second day of the exercise, participants were divided into two RAP teams and were given various types of casualties. Their ability to sort and triage efficiently played an important role in saving as many lives as possible. Apart from sorting and triaging procedures, leadership and clinical skills of medical assistants were also assessed as these skills are critical to the success of military medical emergency response.

The Regimental Aid Post Exercise concluded with a debrief, covering all the necessary steps that the Medical and Health Services Unit, CSS, RBLF will be undertaking to improve its military medical emergency responses.

The Regimental Aid Post Exercise was designed as preparation for the upcoming Royal Brunei Land Force and Royal Brunei Armed Forces exercises, specifically in terms of coordinating skilled medical assistants and logistics within RAP in response to a military medical emergency.
